Everyone, is there a way to add an already existing event to the calendar without duplicating the initial information?  Meaning, I have a date schedules somewhere in June for X event ay Y date.  Instead of "Adding" the event all over again (Same address, place, website, etc), can I modify it or do something to keep all the original information and just change the date?  Please help.  Thanks.

Choose

Edit/Delete Events from the menu

Then click on

Schedule

for the event you want to change. You can change or add dates and change the time.

I know about that functionality, but it seems that when I press "Schedule", the event comes up with an attached "ID#".  If I change the date within that screen, it only changes THAT particular entry.  I know I did this before, but I don't remember how.  Right now, I am copying information from an existing event to a new event, then saving it.  It is a pain in the butt.  Please help.

** is there a way to add an already existing event to the calendar without duplicating the initial information? **

You can schedule the same event for multiple dates by entering multiple dates separated by commas into the date field. In fact if you click multiple dates in the popup calendar, each will automatically be filled into the date field separated by commas.

You should be able to do the same thing from the 'edit schedule' screen.

If you need to repeat any events on set days of the week (for example), you just click on the "Recurring Schedule" button at the bottom of the add event or edit event screen and fill out the schedule details.

Dan, thanks alot for the tip on adding multiple dates.  I never realized that.  But still, it does not answer my main question.  Say you have a date for something already set in the calendar.  Now, if you get another date for that same something, how do you just go into that original one, edit its information, save it and wind up with BOTH your original date and now a newly added date with the same information?  Everytime I try to do it, it basically edits the original to be the bew date and I lose my original.  (ex - A(existing date), B(new date) - Edit A so B has the same info (instead of copying and pasting the information from the old to the new).  When done, you have both A & B with same info but different dates).  I hope that helps.

The calendar has no function to duplicate an event's information if that's what you're asking.

You can however edit an existing event's schedule and add a second (or third, etc.) date to it. That same event will then be shown on multiple dates on the calendar.

If you want to totally duplicate an event so each's details can be edited separately, you'de have to design a plug-in to do that as I stated, the calendar does not have that feature built-in.

SO you are saying that the initial one that I want needs to be made from scratch and then from there I can add multiple dates?  That's too bad, but OK.  Thank you very much for the help.  By the way, is it hard to update 3.0 with the current version out there right now?  I want to upgrade, but I am not sure if I will need all the extra functionality.  Is there anything special about the upgrade?

What I said was, "You can edit an existing event's schedule and add a second (or third, etc.) date to it."

Which means IF you already had an event scheduled for May 5th, you could edit its schedule and add a second date of say June 30th. That will allow it to display on the calendar both on May 5th and June 30th.

I also said previous to that, "You can schedule the same event for multiple dates by entering multiple dates separated by commas into the date field".

Which means that when you post a new event, you can set it to multiple dates at that time. An event needn't be edited just to post it to multiple dates.

** is it hard to update 3.0 **

I don't think so.

About the current version? It will be required in order to use many of the plug-ins which are available currently and which may become available in the future.
