I recently moved the calendar over to a new Win2003 webserver from W2K Advanced.   While everything else appears to be working properly, along with most admin functions, I am unable to add a new user.   The error message reads:  Cannot open file for append: D:/Inetpub/scriptsz/calendarscript/users. txt (D: is the correct volume).   I've examined the file to make sure that it exists. . . . and it does, but am not sure if this is a permissions related issue or not.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like perms.. have you checked that?

I've looked at the permissions on the users. txt file.    Three groups are listed. . . Administrators, System, and Users.   Administrators and System of course have full rights.   Users have only Read & Execute.   Not having my old server to compare back to, do these seem correct?

Data files need read and WRITE permissions, not execute.  Only script files (. pl, . cgi) need execute permission.

Thanks.   As you both suspected, it does appear to be permissions related.   I removed the inherited permissions and had to give Read and Write to 4 files to get it working. . . . permissions. id, permissions. txt, users. id, and users. txt.

Glad to hear it.

BTW.  All files below the /calendarscript/ directory should only need read and write permissions.  If you have shell access, they all should be able to be changed at the same time.
