I was FINE logging in on my PC up til today. I tried to log-in via my laptop and forgot the password. Wwhat a mess now. I allow cookies, disabled firewall and virus and even uploaded the user.txt file again.

I still am stuck on the calendar_admin.pl page. Also I have already paid the support fee. So any suggestions??

Thank you in advance!!

BTW - I would love to upgrade without messing up the information I have added. Let me know of any suggestions as Matt did email me about this (plus some security issues) and I was unable to do it at that time.

** I tried to log-in via my laptop and forgot the password. Wwhat a mess now. **

So what *exactly* transpired between when you tried to log in and the "mess"???

** Also I have already paid the support fee. **

JFYI. It is not a support fee, it is a license fee for use of the program.

** I would love to upgrade without messing up the information I have added. **

An upgrade should not affect data already in place. I have no idea why you were unable to do it (even with Matt's apparent assistance).

I forgot the password to log-in via my laptop (and any other means of internet connection as well). So, I came here to find the re-set info. This way I could make a new one and save it for each connection AND save it again. I removed the encrypted password in the users.txt file.... uploaded it, chmod it to 777 and no matter which page I use calendar_admin.pl nor calendar.pl, it will not accept the defualt password. I know there is none and that's what I did.

I did contect my server to ask for assistance in this chmod issue as well. Thanks Dan O. as you've been around a long time aiding people like me.

Oh Matt just informed me of the security issues and sent the info to upgrade. But I was told that if I had any drastic changes within it, like text style, colors and such... then I'd have to do that all over again. I heard it does save the info but not the effects I've added. I can't think of that term at 1 AM but I am sure you know what I mean.

Night all.....

** it will not accept the default password. **

There is no "default password" that I'm aware of.

I don't know how you can go about setting the adminitrator password. If you can add a new account, do so and take that account's encrypted password and manually paste it where the administrator's password should go.

** I was told that if I had any drastic changes within it, like text style, colors and such... then I'd have to do that all over again. **

I do not believe such customizations would be considered "drastic changes". Drastic changes would likely be to the script files (calendar.pl and calendar_admin.pl) files them self only.

That's the word Dan, 'customizations'. Since I don't know enough on it, maybe I should leave it alone.

Back to the password issue... I can't log-in at all, no where on the calendar. I leave the password line blank, like the notes say and it reads "invalid password". I even did an overwrite of the OLD user.txt file. I uploaded the one that originally comes with the original script I downloaded. Nothing. My server tech is trying to help too. Man, am I upset about this.

And yes, I forgot to correct myself in that I did pay the usage license $$. Sorry for incorrect wording, again.

Ok, back a few mins later to add. I have a work around for the moment. Since I deleted the password and user name from the Windows file on my XP PC, here's what I've done: I uploaded the encrypted password user.txt file that contains the password I create way back when. I logged in on my WIN ME PC and I can access it since Windows still stores the info. I won't be able to log-in on the laptop nor the XP PC nor change the password cause I don't know the old one. "This ain't over"... laughs!

** nor change the password cause I don't know the old one **

I don't think you need to. If you're able to log-in as the Administrator, go to the admin "Edit User" section where you should be able to set the passwords for any of the accounts.

** 'customizations'. Since I don't know enough on it, maybe I should leave it alone. **

Did you make any changes to the calendar.pl or calendar_admin.pl files? It would be unusual if you did.

If you don't upgrade CalendarScript to at least version 3.21 you're leaving your site (and possibly host) open to hacking! I *STRONGLY* suggest you do NOT put it off!!!!!

Don - ok, DONE!!! The 'edit users' worked like a charm. Thanks for that one.

(runs to scrawl this in her blue book of death)

Next... I will make an attempt to upgrade. But I want to back up all my files so that IF I should make another mess, then I have not lost everything. Suggestions?

(leaves wondering if she did edit those two files??? Scratches head and goes on to check....)
