this is a new install.  debug.pl runs fine.  calendar comes up.  Administrator prompt comes up no problem.  prompted to change.  enter change, save.  atempt to logon and it prompts for the password to change again.  it is not getting stored.  
Any ideas?

Do you have any cookie blocking software in place in the browser you're using?

Does the calendarscript/users.txt file have both read and write permissions?

Does the calendarscript/session directory have both read and write permissions?

I do get the following at the top of the screen:
Set-cookie: CGISessionID=643656666968;path=/ Content-type: text/html

not sure what it is telling me.

If you're seeing that in your browser, it means the server is not handling headers properly and is just printing them out as text.

I've only seen such a thing on a Windows? server. I suggest you contact your host's support and ask them to look into it.
