Jack,

Changing the colors would help.

Also, because of the clutter - a very busy calendar - perhaps you should consider using LIST as the default presentation.

Here is an example of a busy calendar using different color choices. http://www.lewisborogov.com/calendar  . Take a look at the July 2003 page which is very busy.
