I've installed CalendarScript three times now (using ASCII transfer and CHMOD and adjusting BASEDIR), and the same problems are cropping up.  I'm viewing this

through Netscape 7.02 on a Mac OS X Powerbook G4.

The problems are this. I find I can log in as Administrator just fine, and create a few users, setting permissions according to the docs.  I can also make changes to the appearance controls of the calendar just fine.  HOWEVER, when I log out and then log in again as one of the users that've been given specific permission to add events and edit/delete and approve events (including their own), I find that the control panel for the user only lets them view the calendar and edit/delete existing events.  For some reason the permissions I'm giving are being selectively ignored.

I'm not sure if this is a related problem, but as administrator although I *am* able to add new events, they do not appear on the calendar when I refresh it.  I've checked the events.txt and schedule.txt files and found the info there.  I did notice that all the events are missing a value for the "action" field.  However, even when I create events as Administrator and enter "Administrator" into the approved field, still nothing happens.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Well, I got it to work, and the problem was due to how I opened up the original calendarscript zip file on my Mac OS X powerbook.  Once I applied BB Edit to all the files to make sure that they had Unix linefeeds (as opposed to DOS or Mac), and then uploaded THOSE fixed files, all was well.  This was important since my host is running on Unix.

Oh, and one more thing, DON'T assume that you only have to fix .pl files and just ignore .js or .html files in making this fix.  Since many of the .js and .html files use the <% .. %> mechanism for server-side inclusion of CalendarScript data, messed-up linefeeds *can* cause problems.
