I wanted to use the calendar for my team but I can't get it to install.  I don't know dos. But, I tried to get the install.bat to run from it.  I have windows 98. And I have my own host service from www.pair.com.   They allow everything there so I know I can use the calendar if I can get it installed.

From the start menu I found the dos prompt. On the dos promt it had C:\windows> So, I typed in d: and hit enter.  It gave me D:>calendar and that was the right folder. So then I typed in install.bat and hit enter.

Then it gave me this................
This BATCH file will install CalendarScript for you, using standard FTP to transfer the files to your server, create directoried, and CHMOD them correctly!  The following information is required to run this script:
1. FTP Host name to transfer files to
2. Username to login as
3. Password
4. Directory to place all the files
Pass these 4 things as arguments to this batch file.  For example:

D:>calendar

And then I pasted in install.bat www.mysitename.com  myusername mypassword www/cgi-bin/ but, I used my real names and passwords and stuff.

Then what I got on the dos prompt window was

D:\calendar\C:\www.mysite.com username password /home/user/cgi-bin/ but this looked exactly like I typed it here and didn't have my real names or anything.

I can't figure it out and my mom doesn't know dos either.  How can I make it work?

I don't know what your problem is with the DOS batch file but you can just upload the calendar files using FTP or if you have shell access on the server CalendarScript will be running on, upload the .zip or .tar file and uncompress it there.

Thank you for helping me.  After I unzipped the files with winzip I used WS-FTP to upload them to my server folder.  My domain name is my own but I have to share the server with my family.  But we all have our own part in it just in different folders.  So my dad has like dad.com and that is one folder and my mom has something like mom.com and that is another folder and my sister should have littlebrat.com but she has somethig else and that is another one and I have like me.com and that is mine.

I uploaded all the files and folders of the calendar to a folder called calendar in my cgi-bin on my domain file folder.  So after I uploaded I went to the browser and typed in the path http://www.me.com/cgi-bin/calendar/admin.pl  so I could get the wizard thing.  But, it just said not found.  I read the instructions on the page that talked about how to change the path to perl on the admin.pl and the calendar.pl and I changed it to #!/usr/bin/perl cause thats where our host help page said the cgi or perl thing is found. And then I tried it in the browser again and the wizard didn't come up it couldn't be found again.  Maybe I am doing something pretty stupid. I can't figure it out.

You you're getting a "File Not Found" error when you enter http://www.me.com/cgi-bin/calendar/admin.pl   into a browser, then that is not where the file is located on the server. You'll have to try to figure out where you've uploaded the script to. Maybe http://www.me.com/cgi-bin/admin.pl  but no one here is going to be able to tell you. Sorry.
