Still finding my way around...

Using default template

from the "Calendar Administration: Template Preferences" page

when I click to pick any of the color options the color picker will not display. It seems that the Template Preferences page is 'refreshed', from the top, instead.

The color palette will pop up when I click from the "Admin Interface" page.

Also, when I try to change the calendar template, I don't have any choices. The 'Old Style' and 'Simple' templates aren't there to choose from, even though I can see their folders in the directory tree.

I can't thing of any thing specific that would cause such failures. Maybe some files got corrupted during the initial upload?

Maybe try uploading a fresh copy of the script and making sure it is done in ascii mode.

I tried redownload and install  twice... same thing happens with color picker

Tried with firefox and epiphany browsers.

I'm using my own server, so I don't think ascii problem exists. I downloaded tar.gz to install.

On Admin Interface the link shows as Pick... (it works)
On Template Preferences the link shows as [Pick] (don't work)

As for oldstyle and simple... I forgot to add them. Now, when I choose a different one they all look the same as the default:

.../calendar.pl?calendar=default
.../calendar.pl?calendar=simple
.../calendar.pl?calendar=oldstyle

I'll switch to simple and then go to manage calendars. The * shows that default is still the default. Is this correct?

Thanks for your time

** On Template Preferences the link shows as [Pick] (don't work) **

Than a JavaScript browser error message should be produced. What does it say?

** As for oldstyle and simple... I forgot to add them. **

I don't know what you mean by that, add them where???

** .../calendar.pl?calendar=default
.../calendar.pl?calendar=simple
.../calendar.pl?calendar=oldstyle **

That is not how you switch templates, it is just how to display a completely different calendar.

** I'll switch to simple and then go to manage calendars. The * shows that default is still the default. Is this correct? **

The 'default' calendar will always be the 'default' calendar until that designation is changed (I don't even recall how to do that). Just switching to view/administer a different calendar does not change the 'default' calendar designation.

In the calendar admin app main menu, go down to "calendar options" and click "calendar settings".  Next to "Display Template Type" should be a pull down menu where you can choose the template set.

Yes, that is how to change the template each calendar uses but the OP said "when I try to change the calendar template, I don't have any choices" so I've been assuming that option isn't working properly. I have no idea what could cause that.

BTW. w, the text you quoted in your message was about changing the default calendar designation not about changing the templates being used.

mea culpa.  Perhaps from the main menu, under "Admin Interface," and then next to "Default calendar to display?"

fwiw, I've never been able to get the color picker to work in the template preferences either, but it does work in the admin interface.

Yes. I knew it was there somewhere.

They all work in my IE 6 browser but you're right! The ones on that page do NOT work in my FireFox version 1.06. I never noticed it before on the calendars I set up for others.   The ones on the Template Preferences DO work in my FireFox.

I'm afraid the JavaScript code used for that is way over my head. It does look like a bug, I don't see why the ones in the Template Preferences would work in FireFox but not on that template. Maybe someone should post about it in the Suggestions and Ideas forum?

BTW. The JS browser error message being produced is:
Error:
o has no properties ...template_preferences.html Line: 37

which as near as I can tell is:

var o = document.getElementById(anchorname);
or
x = o.offsetLeft;

Which are actually lines 23 and 24 from the AnchorPosition.js file.
