is it possible to show a different header (or other text) at the top of page depending on month. ex: if month is march, show text "St Patrick's party blah blah", if month is May, show text "Don't forget Mother's Day", etc.

Sure! Change it whenever you like.

what i meant to say, the message is different for the month displayed, not just the current month. so if today is month of march, the current month heading would be "st patrick's day" message; if someone clicks on may in the navbar, the message would change to "mother's day" etc. so a different message could be stored somewhere for each month. the message would be displayed according to what month the person is viewing.

While that is certainly a possibility with some customization, there is nothing in the calendar as it ships out of the box to accommodate such a feature.
