Someone appears to have done it with a version of the ssi.html template (see the link below). Maybe you can transfer those changes to the Event View template?

its seems pretty difficult for my level of coding abilities.  especially with needing to hash out the event IDs....but where is the event view template to begin with?

That depends on the templates you're using. If you're using the default templates, the Even View code is in the default.html template file in the section that starts:

<!-- EVENT VIEW -->

ok thats the event view code i knew about, however the code in that section isnt similar to the code from the other thread you linked to.  should they be?

No, they are not the same. That other code will likely require at least some modifications in order to get it to work in the default template. I'm afraid I do not know the exact code you'd need to use to accomplish it.
