Hello,

Does anyone know if the Delete Old plug-in will delete recurring events?  If I delete all events before Dec. 1, 2007, will related events occurring after that time period also be deleted?  The readme for the plugin says:

Quote
This plugin deletes all the events before a given date, to increase the speed and decrease the size of the CalendarScript across the board.  Note: unbounded recurring events are not deleted, because to represent them correctly, they would have to be re-inserted as a bounded event ranging from the delete date until 2038.  This would increase the size a lot, and in turn slow it down, defeating the purpose of the plugin.  In short, you really need to bound your recurring events (check the first box and give it a start and end date).

All of my recurring events are bound, but I am not sure if using the Delete Old plugin will also delete the related events that did or will occur after the Delete Old date.  I hope that question makes sense.  Thank you.

Thank you.

.
A recurring event is recorded within a single schedule record. It is not possible to delete just a bit of that schedule, it would be all or nothing.

I do not know how that plugin would tell if that record was appropriate to delete but if decided it was, all occurrences would be removed from the calendar.

You could try duplicating your existing calendar and trying out that plugin on that copy to see how it behaves?

PS. Depending on server load, deleting a very large number of events at one time could cause the script to timeout leaving some records out of sinc. I suggest you do incremental deletes, maybe one month or year at a time... depending on the number of events that will be involved.
