hello,
we are using calendar.cgi on our website and i have the feeling that is an old version or something. i upgraded our 3.2 -> 3.21 but was still able to upload stuff to our /cgi-bin/!!
how can i get calendar.pl to use calendar.cgi's data so i can erase calendar.cgi?

thanks,
jim b

Just rename .pl to .cgi.

Some servers require the extension to be cgi, while others require it to pl, and still others work with both.

If yours works with cgi, then take the new calendar.pl and rename it to calendar.cgi, over-writing the old one.

sorry i should probably provide more info-

in my cgi-bin i have the following files:
#########
calendar.cgi
calendar.pl
calendar_admin.cgi
calendar_admin.pl
calendar_events.tx_
calendar_events.txt
calendar_new.cgi
calendarscript - directory
##########
in the calendarscript directory there are some of those same files like calendar.pl & calendar_admin.pl. the users presently get to the calendar by going to /cgi-bin/calendar.cgi

Check your calendar.cgi to see if you changed the line with $BASE_DIR (near the top). If so, you need to make the same change in the new version.

hello,
i checked calendar.cgi and $BASE_DIR was still commented out. could we be using some very old version? i mean is calendar_events.txt even still used for the events? it looks to me like the events for calendar.pl 3.21 are now stored in calendarscript/calendars/default/events.txt

using that logic would i just move and rename our calendar_events.txt from the /cgi-bin/ folder into ->
/cgi-bin/calendarscript/calendars/default/
then rename it to be called events.txt??

thanks!!

** is calendar_events.txt even still used for the events? **

No and I do not beleive it was ever used in ANY of the 3+ versions.

** i upgraded our 3.2 -> 3.21  **

Are you absolutely sure that is what you had installed??? It doesn't sound like it.

Sounds like you're using old version 2.x, from over 5 years ago. You'll have to install fresh from scratch, and import your old events. See the docs for the import feature.

thanks guys for your replies,
DanO - i found files that said they were version 3.2 and replaced w/ the new 3.21 files, but it's looking like none of them were even being used. it's gotta be a very old version. i'm going to reinstall and try the import feature
