This seems like it shouldbe easy. I have seen many more icomplicated filtering solutions, even got them to work for me. Hoeverm I need this simple solution to get my page to look and function the way I wish. Hope someone can help me. Thanks.

I have set up a custom field: Categories.

I need to be able to display my calendar defaulted to show only events of a certain category and filter out ones that do not.

I have calenarscript running in my webpage, list and week view, using a virtual include command.

Thanks so much.

It should be simple enough to modify a more complicated filtering solutions to do what you're looking for now. If you can't figure it out yourself, post the code you're using and I'm sure someone will help you out.

You can also see if there are previous forum messages which provide code you can work from to create your own.

Dan,

Thanks for such a quick reply.

I was thinking to use the code from Tuba Dave's post on filtering: http://www.calendarscript.com/support/forum/Forum4/HTML/000205.html

He sets up a drop down list which triggers the filtering. I wanted to see if it could be modded so the trigger occurs when a user clicks on a button on my home page, rather than a drop down list in the calendar's default template.

Here is the page I am working on with the Calendar called as a virtual include:

Please let me know if I can provide any other information. I have spent several days (last night till 2 a.m.) and just do not know enough coding, though I am learning.

Thank you again for your help.

I don't know about a button but I suppose it would be possible. For a normal HTML link, just add &filter=Filter_Value_Here to the URL of the link back to the calendar. (Filter_Value_Here being the value of the filter you want acted upon.)

DanO,

Thanks much for your help. Can't wait to try it out.

After I get my site up and running reliably I am definately going to learn more programming fundamentals. I have been able to do much more than I expected by just hacking/reverse engineering the good work of others but am looking forward to being more of a contributor.

Thanks again.
