I'm running CalendarScript to evaluate it. It looks good, but I can't get events to display.

CalendarScript and CalendarScript_admin appear to work correctly, and debug.pl says everything's okay.

Here's the environment:

Mac OS X  v.10.1.2
MSIE for Mac v.5.1.3
Mac OS X version of Apache Server
virtual hosting and ssi enabled

Hosted on my own server and installed locally from downloaded files - no ftp involved.

Permissions set manually - very loose for debug - Perl path correct.

There are no errors in the server error log.

No filename extensions have been changed.

$BASE_DIR set manually and is correct.

Using BBEdit, I see data in the events.txt and schedule.txt files, but the events don't display.

I've read the dox and checked out the forum, but no joy.

The calendar is available at:
http://www2.church-for-us.org/cgi-bin/church-for-us/calendarscript/calendar.pl

Default admin name and password.

Help!

Your files are not probably not in ASCII format. Macs use a different format for newlines which may be causing the problems.
When you FTP in ASCII mode, it would correct for this.

I am having the same problem on my Red Hat Linux 7.1 box. It is locally hosted for testing, and events do not show up.
I am using Apache webserver.

I am having this same problem.  The events appear in default/events.txt and default/schedule.txt but do not display.  The install was unzipped directly on Linux box, but I ran dos2unix on most (everything).  Please do not simply say  "use ASCII" mode but  give more  complete instructions.

If you unzipped directly in linux, you should have downloaded the .tar.gz file instead, which has unix-style linefeeds. Also, you can add a flag to the unzip which will convert all the files to TEXT format when unzipping.

"Use ASCII" applies when you are FTP'ing the files to the server. When you do this, if you do it in ASCII mode (I don't know how to explain that further) then there should be no problem.

I am having the same problem but i am using win98se and sambar 5.1.  I load the script and all it says is NO EVENTS.
I know there is an event in there but it is not being displayed.

I too am having this error (my FTP program automatically transfers certain files in ASCII, e.g files with txt, pl, html, java, nfo). Can anyone help? I've also CHMOD'd all the files/directories.

It's simple. It has _nothing_ to do with how the files are transferred, but it has to do with how you enter your calendar data.

Open the "events.txt" file. You'll see linefeeds (coded as "\n"). All events with those line feeds won't diesplay.

Remove the linefeeds (or don't enter them at all), and all will work.

Christian.
