I'm fairly new to calendarscript. I also had a similar problem as posted by "Buss". It installed easily and error free. It also has been working fine for a year or so. I also signed on the other day and could not add an event (it allowed me as the administrator). I went thru all the steps and it told me that the event was added, but when I went to the calendar itself the event had not been entered.

When I went to other months that had events showing before the events were now not there. I added another calendar called "test" and I was able to add an event.

I unfortunately tried to delete the "test" calendar, but could not find a way to do it so I blanked out the key and name and description.  It now tells me "You do not have permissions to administer any calendars." although I'm signed on as trhe administrator.

The calendar that I was originally using was called default (I hadn't bothered to name it as it was going to be the only calendar in use). Did I blow it away when I blanked out the test calendar name, etc.

I'm in big trouble unless someone can help me.

** It also has been working fine for a year or so. **

Which version of CalendarScript are you using??

** When I went to other months that had events showing before the events were now not there. **

If you're using a version previous to 3.2, maybe the problem reported in the previous message "line-feeds in events.txt == "missing" events" is the cause? Are the events listed in the event.txt file?

** so I blanked out the key and name and description. It now tells me "You do not have permissions to administer any calendars." **

I'm afraid I have no idea what you did there. Sorry.

I'm using version 3.2

per my comment ** so I blanked out the key and name and description. It now tells me "You do not have permissions to administer any calendars." **

I had created a new calendar that I named "test" that I used to test the add event function. It did work with this calendar. Since I didn't need this calendar anymore I attempted to delete it. When I couldn't find a delete calendar function I went to the edit function and there I deleted the "key", "name" and the "description?". After that

I got this message when I next signed on:
"Administrator Account logged in successfully
You do not have permissions to administer any calendars."

I attemped to correct that problem by using the "I Forgot my Administrator password - how can I recover it?" post located in the FAQ forum. To no avail, I still get the same "Administrator Account logged in successfully
You do not have permissions to administer any calendars."

** I'm using version 3.2 **

Than you should upgrade it to version 3.21 as earlier versions have some security flaws which could allow malicious programs to be uploaded to your server. (the upgrade will not however help with your current problem).

** Since I didn't need this calendar anymore I attempted to delete it. When I couldn't find a delete calendar function... **

Probably because you can not delete a calendar while still logged into that same calendar as noted at the bottom of the Calendar Administration: Manage Calendars screen. It is a control feature to avoid, I assume, the exact problem you are experiencing now.

Have you tried logging out and/or into the default calendar?

Thanks for your help!!

My provider reloaded a backup copy of the calendarscript directory and all is well!!  I've been able to add and edit with no problem.

I'm not sure if this was the problem, but I had exceeded my alloted site size. I suspect that when I added that last event and the application was trying to save the new data and there was no more storage room that the file was saved corrupted. I've since deleted a bunch of unecessary data on the site. Is there something that could be added to the application that would warn of that type of condition??

What files would be needed to preserve a backup of the various users (editors) of the calendar and the events and how the calendar displays??  Should I just backup the entire calendarscript directory?

I'll look into upgrading, but am hesitant as I can't afford to lose any of the data I got back.  I am a green bean at this!!

Is there a function that would allow me to print out all the events (past and present) posted on the calendar so far??

To CalendarScript? There's no way I know of for it to know when you're out of disk space. I guess you'll just have to be more diligent about checking? Maybe you could add a secretary?

Yes.

Make a backup.

Not to my knowledge. There is a plug-in which may allow you to export the calendar data in various formats at the Unofficial CalendarScript - Mods and Plugins site.

Dan, thanks for you help.  As I stated at the outset "I'm a neubie", but am getting better.

I do know better about backup, but like most of us need to get burned once to make it sink in.

Thanks for not just blowing me off!!

All is well at my site.......
