I saw some old threads regarding an "export" plugin... is this still available, or is there any other way to export the events to an excel or word file?

You can find the "CSXport Plug-In" linked from the Unofficial CalendarScript - Mods and Plugins site.

Not AFAIK and that plug-in doesn't do it either. It will however export to a delimited file which can then be imported into Excel.
