Is there a way to hack the script so that it will show a rotating color scheme on the date?  Example...

Shift A works (black) oct 2,4, then four days off 9,11,13 then four days off....

Shift B works (red) works oct 1,3 then four days off 5,7,9...

Shift C works (green) works oct 1, then four days off 6,8,10...

it works out so each shift works 1 day on 1 day off 1 day on,4 days off.  Two of the shift will work every other day while the third is on a four day(off).

Any help would be great.

Thanks

You mean without actually adding any events to the calendar? I'm sure it may be possibly but have no idea the formula you'd use nor what template changes would be necessary.

The calendar cell background colour is set with the following line in the default.html template file. Your modifications may need to go in place of it.

BGCOLOR="<%IF SELECTED%><%=$_GRID_CELL_SELECTED_BGCOLOR%><%ELSE%><%=$_GRID_CELL_BGCOLOR%><%/IF%>">

If you're willing to actually enter the shift dates, you can colour code their titles which appear on the calendar grids using something like proposed in the previous forum message "Color coding Events".

Actually its not that hard to figure out the formula.  I work this same schedule and would like to see this mod added.

Here's the concept

3 shifts
Each shift works 3 days
24on / 24off / 24on / 24off /24on 4 days off.
This is called a "set" where we work.

So if you schedule the 1st work day of the set on the 1st of the month it would repeat 9 days later.  Each workday would repeat 9 days later.  You would only have to do three days (1st, 2nd, 3rd) and you could have a complete schedule for that shift.

To do the other shifts, just repeat the process for them the same as before, 1st (repeat 9 days later) 2nd (repeat 9 days later) 3rd (repeat 9 days later).

Sounds screwy but it works flawlessly on MS Outlook.

All that is necessary is a mod that will allow you to repeat events "X of days"  (in our case X=9)

All that necessary is to be able to define the schedule (ie. "set") somewhere then repeat it every x number of days.

The problem as I see it is that if you defined the schedule and started it on say January 1st, when August roles around and the calendar needs to display those events, it has to go back to January and has to calculate from there where the shift is in the particular month being viewed.

I'm sure it is possible but as I said, I don't know the formula to make the calculations the calendar will need to accomplish it, easier.

Maybe someone with enough interest in it will create a mod to allow it or Matt will think it's a worthwhile enough request to put the effort into creating it for a future version?

I have a mod that will create a modified detroit schedule.  If anyone is interested, reply to this post and I'll prepare it for release.

I'm sure there are others that would be interested. Why don't you make it available?

OK, I know that excuses are just. . . . . . . . .

I will try to get this pushed up on the list of things to get done.   I have had a big job change in the last year that has prevented a lot of thing from getting done.   I will get back on this and get it posted.

Check out what I did at www. waynefire. org  Follow the calendar link.  I didn't do the colors but I have the shift names.  I have been using this mod for years.  We don't work the same shift, but I think it would be easy enough to change to your config.

I says A-shift, B-shift, C-shift as part of the date in the calendar box.  Also (and on this calendar there are no events, but on our other ones there are) the name of the shift shows up in the day's event view as part of the date.

The calendar which is restricted to internal user also notes if a given day is in a long cycle (ten shifts in a four week period) or a short cycle (nine shifts in a four week period. ) The firefighters are interested in this as it affects their OT rate.

** I says A-shift, B-shift, C-shift as part of the date in the calendar box. **

I seen that but how was it achieved?

Did someone enter events with those titles on each of the individual dates? Are they recurring events?

Or are those labels maybe generated by the template in some way? If so, how?? Others might be interested in knowing.

I would love to use this (with the colors for the different shifts) as on
http://www.morainefire.org/cgi-bin/calendar.pl?month=3&month=4

I don't see the colors on www. waynefire. org
