I am incredibly new to all of this, but using FrontPage 2003 I created a very simple, yet functional website for our church.  Right now it's just on my local machine, but I'm looking at hosting sites and hope to have it 'live' very soon.  Probably the most important feature I want to include is a calendar with the ability to add appts, etc so that church members can look and see what's going on.
I started using a free web site that makes it very easy, but it's kind of slow, and I noticed that sometimes it takes 2 or 3 tries to get the calendar to load (correctly).

Using FrontPage 2003, do you think a novice can get the calendar to run?  How exactly does it work?  The web hosting company I'm consdering (Interland) says I can't install software on the server...

Thanks for your patience,
Cindy

I'm afraid I am not familiar with using FrontPage to install CGI scripts (like CalendarScript is). Maybe someone with experience using it will offer some suggestions?

** How exactly does it work? **

Which? FrontPage or CalendarScript?

If CalendarScript, do you want to know how to use it or the mechanics behind it?? You can try the CalendarScript demo at the following link:

Sorry my question wasn't clear:

1.  How does this work:
The webhosting sites I've contacted won't let you install software on their servers...
In order to use this product, do I need to install something on the web server itself?

The documentation talks about downloading the script to your local machine, and then publishing them to the server?   I take it that's different than installing software on the server?

Thanks.

CalendarScript is a CGI script written in Perl. Yes it needs to be installed on a server where it runs when a user connects with it.

If your host does not allow Perl scripts to run there (check their FAQs), you will not be able to use CalendarScript.
