I hope this is the right forum for this. I just wanted to let anyone who thinks things are hopeless, that is isn't IF you are patient and persistant. And that is me!

I had to move my entire site, calendar included. I never new all the files were retrievaable till tonight in an email from my domain host.  And here is step-by-step what I did:

1) I logged (via WS_FTP) into my OLD server's given location, downloaded all my calendar files on my desktop ('calendar2' folder - my name for it)

2) Went to the calendar.pl AND calendar_admin.pl and changed the BASE DIR -> ( #$BASE_DIR = "/hsphere/local/home/yourname/yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/yourcalendar'sname/"; ) to the NEW server URL (link)

3) Logged into my new domain host server (WS_FTP)

4) Uploaded all the files like they were on the desktop

5) 'chmod' calendar.pl AND calendar_admin.pl to 755

6) 'chmod' each and every directory and file in/under 'calendarscript' directory AND this directory as well (ok, if this was extreme, hey, it worked, SMILES!)

WAAALLLLLLAAAAAH!

Three years of a very FULL calendar on a world renowed and very POPULAR singer & his band SAVED!! I am so happy, I could just scream. It is 3 AM, so better not frighten the neighbors.

Hope this helps someone... somewhere....

Depending on how you've installed the files on the new server, there may be one additional step needed:

If the directory path has changed or is now hosted on a different domain, you will need to change the values of the "calendar_url" and "calendar_admin_url" variables in the config.txt file located in the calendarscript directory. They must be URLs as well, not paths.

Otherwise, while your calendar may display, all the links on it will point to files using the old path set up and/or domain name.

JFYI

Thank you Dan... I check that config.txt and it points to the same URL of my domain that I own (which did not change) not the URL of the server's domain. That was never there. SMILES!

The calendar_url leads to the actual location of the calenar and the calendar_admin_url leads to the admin's log-in of the calendar, right? If so then I have them correct cause I am able to log-in and view the calendar fully.

If you think I need to send it to you to review, please let me know. Thank you ever so much.

One happy retrieved and revived calendar owner.

If the links on a calendar work than those values will not need to be changed. I just mentioned it in case others move their calendar and change the directory structure of the site or change the domain name is was used on.

Oh I see. I missed the part that said...

Works Great
Thank you again!

WOW, Dan O - I see you used this as a reference source @ much2.com. I feel very good about that and... I could come back and retreive this information as well.

Yep, I am moving again.

(LAUGHS) Take care and thank you for making my day!!
