Am migrating my Calendarscript from a RH Linux 9 to a RH Fedora 4 box.  Have tried every little step, including verifying permissions on each file.  I get the error message:

CGISession: Session file [/var/www/cgi-bin/calendarscript/session/197330959408.txt] could not be opened for writing!

The CalendarScript Debugger says:

CalendarScript Debugger

There was a problem creating a temp file in the 'session' directory. Make sure that the directory has correct permissions!.
The error was: Permission denied
Once this problem is fixed, please re-run this debugger to check for any further errors!

That directory has 777 permissions.

I tried a fresh install on the new server with the same results.

Thanks,

Bud clark

** That directory has 777 permissions. **

Not all servers allow files or directories to be chmod 777, check your host's CGI FAQs. The calendarscript and lower directories should not need any more than 666 (or 766 on some servers) permissions.

JFYI

Yes...all the files and all of the subdirectories in the calendarscript have a CHMOD value of  777.  Checked, rechecked, and checked again.  I'm the administrator of the server so that makes this a bit frustrating.  When I first set CalendarScript up after licensing it, it was about 20 minutes until the first calendars started rolling out.

I've checked the httpd.conf file of Apache for restrictions in the cgi-bin directory, but nothing is different from the original server.

All files were transferred in ASCII.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Did you try changing them to 666 as I suggested?

Is /var/www/cgi-bin/calendarscript/session/197330959408.txt a proper path??

I don't know what else would cause that error besides a permissions problem or maybe a wrong file path being used. If the path is correct and changing the permissions doesn't help, maybe try moving the ancillary files out of the cgi-bin directory altogether.

Sorry but I don't have any other ideas.

Am going to try that today or tomorrow.  Had to migrate two LINUX boxes to 2003 server and I just gave up on this.

Thanks for the suggestion!
