** I've read both forums and all tutorials and still no luck. **

Really??? This is from the post I directed you to in the message titled "Having trouble with SSI":

quote:
2. You make sure that **that page** has an .shtml file name ending.
and what is the file you're trying to include it into?

...birf.info/indexb.html

There is also this in my first posting at that same message:

quote:
Is the SSI tag removed from the source code of the page?

If not, your server isn't parsing the page for SSI tags. Most servers need files to be named with a .shtml file extension to signal the server to parse them.

If you look at the source code of your page, you'll see that the SSI tag is still there hence (see the above quote)...

If you're not even going to follow the instructions, no one is likely going to be able to help you. If you'd like to hire my services to do it for you, contact me via email.

Dan O.

PS. When you post links in the forum, do not put any punctuation immediately after them or that punctuation will be incorporated into those links.

I apologize.  I thought I read that you didn't need to rename the page.  I misunderstood what "Pardebob" was asking and was told.

I can't imagine maintaining this forum. People like me must keep you running. Again, I'm sorry. I've been able to successfully install the full calendar and I'm almost there with the mini calendar. I even have event lists in a number of places. Your services have been wonderful, enabling me to accomplish more than my knowledge-base would have intuitively allowed.

Removing the ssi tag is something I already thought I did. I promise you that I've read everything you directed me to.  I'm a writer by trade and learning web development to help out this organization.  They have limited funds and are showcasing their services (website included) to the CDC, several large corporations, and the press in an event on Wednesday. This website did not exist six months ago and today we have more than 3000 articles. It's a department of one person(me)and as I correspond with this forum, I am simultaneously tying up loose ends--tasks that include properly setting neurocognitive files, securing our forum, moving media to a different server, and back coding all of our forms.

I say all this just so you don't jump to conclusions in your assessment of me. **If you're not even going to follow the instructions, no one is likely going to be able to help you. ** I follow instructions--I'm quite diligent. I'm just ignorant in places.

*You* are not suppose to do anything with the SSI tag once it is in the web page, the *server* is suppose to remove it when it acts upon it.

The point of it still being in the page code means the server is NOT acting upon it, for whatever reason. The wrong file name extension is one very likely reason.

If you are unable to figure out how to get SSI working, try contacting your web host's support to see if they can tell you what you're doing wrong.

Good luck.

Dan O.
