Hello Everyone - I have successfully installed the calendarscript and I have been able to enter a few test events.   I have also been able to add fields to the events, such as location and contact number.

What I have NOT been able to do is add a new user.

When I attempt to add a user, I input the information and click save.   I then get a message that says:

Field [Name] is a required field.
User not added: Required fields missing

The problem is that I DID fill in all the fields - I put in a person's name for that field, so there is no missing field.   In addition, "Name" is one of the fields that is already there when you set-up the calendar, it is not a field I added to the database.   How could this error occur?

I should also add here that the "name" field has buttons to "Edit" or "Delete" it but neither of those buttons work.  When you click either of them, nothing happens.  I had thought of deleting the field altogether.

So, I DID put a name in the name field, but I get an error message sayign that I did not.  How could this error occur?  What do I need to do to correct it?

Thank you for anything that you can share.

.
The only time I have heard of such a problem before was because of a corrupted file. I suggest you try reuplaoding the script files making sure they are transferred in ascii mode. Do NOT rely on an FTP client's 'auto' setting to determine between ascii and binary upload.

Thanks for your response.  I have been away from the office, hence the delay in responding.  I uploaded each file one by one, making sure each time that it was ASCII (I did NOT have it set on automatic).  I also carefully set the permissions for each file.

I have spent time customizing this and do not want to start from scratch.  This is the SECOND time that I have already had to upload each file individually and then customize the calendar.

If you could tell me which file(s) controls the name field for setting up new users I can reupload all of those.

Uploading this so carefully (one file at a time) is VERY time consuming.  I would rather not have to do the whole job all over again a third time.

Thank you very much for your help.

** Uploading (one file at a time) is VERY time consuming. **

That shouldn't be necessary. Just setting the FTP client to transfer the files ascii mode (rather than automatically detecting file type) should be all that is necessary.

One person did however report that they had to use a different FTP client to get a proper ascii upload. I personally recommend WS_FTP. A few (MAC?) users had problem with the .zip archive file getting corrupted by their computer and instead had to use the .tar.gz archive.

** If you could tell me which file(s) controls the name field for setting up new users I can reupload all of those. **

I do not know which exact file(s) would be your problem and since you appear to be having problems in several areas, the list could be numerous. It could be the template you're on at the time of the problem or the main script file or any one of the /lib/ or ancillary files which are involved in the particular function.

** I have spent time customizing this and do not want to start from scratch. **

What exactly have you "customized"? Maybe those file(s) can be backed up and restored after the new upload? Hopefully they're not holding the cause of the problems.  Undecided
