Hi, I just downloaded CalendarScript & am hoping to integrate it into my website.  I was prepared to spend some time installing it, but then I saw the install.bat file.    In testing out the basic features, I was afraid I was going to have to change my mind on the program until I saw the Split Recurring Events plug-in.  I will definitely need that!!!

But first I need to get started: I want to modify the calendar to look like the other pages of my website.  I have a very good understanding of HTML (though I don't know any Perl), and I understand that I should edit the templates.  Should I just start trying to modify the default template?  Any really good threads on getting started with this?  I'll dig around but thought someone might be able to point me to a good starting place.

Thanks, Phyllis

I would start by copying the default template directory a new name, then modify that. Review the documentation on customization and the templates for info on how they work. The default template is fairly complex with a lot of functionality. You may want to start playing with the 'simple' template to get a feel for how it works, before moving on to the default template.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.  Great program, by the way!  I looked at a bunch before I found this one.  Glad you allow testing it first as I do want to make sure I can integrate it into the look of my site.  But I'm optimistic about that and expect to buy a license very soon.  I thought it was neat that so many people had written add-ons too.

Is the creation of new calendar styles just a matter of copying the default directory and modifying the copied html?  For example, create a directory for 'blue' background, a directory for 'red' background, etc.?

If you're just changing colors, then you probably just want different display preferences. A template defines the layout and functionality of the display. It has the logic. Which colors and styles it uses, or which options are turned on and off, are decided based on the preferences for the template, and what values the specific calendar has supplied for those preferences.

Once I am happy with the new calendar I have created, how do I designate it as the "default" calendar?
