I am very new to this.

I am already lost when the instructions state to change "calendar.pl" $base_dir to full path.

Is the path "\www\cgi-bin\calendarscript"

I know that the calendarscript is in the CGI-Bin directory, and that the web site is in a directory called www - which is what I see from inside Frontpage XP.

I changed all the files in the CGI-bin directory to permission 777.

So what am I doing wrong?

OS Linux
Browser IE6
Internal server error, 404 file not found

Thanks!

** Is the path "\www\cgi-bin\calendarscript" **

If anything it would be /www/cgi-bin/calendarscript (note the forward slashes)
but you'll have to check your host's CGI FAQs or ask their support.

** Internal server error, 404 file not found **

That just means you've entered the incorrect URL for the calendar into your browser. It doesn't have anything to do with the functioning of the script.

I checked that, and I tried it without the www and with it.

What I get is this:
http://www.cmmediations.com/cgi-bin/calendar.pl

INternal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@cmmediations.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Sorry, an "Internal server error" is just a generic error message which means that something has gone wrong. It could be caused by just about anything.

Check your server's error logs to see if a more detailed error message was recorded. If you have shell access, you can also try running the script from telnet or SSH to see what errors Perl reports. If you can provide that, we may be able to offer suggestions.

The 404 error message has nothing to do with the script, it is because the ErrorDocument does not appear to be set up correctly on your site. Check your host's FAQs about that one or ask their support.
