Set the "Anonymous" user permissions to allow viewing of the calendar.

I have "anonymous" set to view the calendar and no password, but I would like to be able to have a url that avoids the login screen altogether.

The only time a login screen should appear for everyone is if you've set the "Require Login:" option to "yes". If you have, change it.
