Everything seems to be configured correctly with no real errors, and everything is being displayed ok. Anyone have an idea of why the latest version won't save any new users added, and not saving any new events being added?? New events added gives a standard success message, but doesn't display in the calendar, nor does anything display when Admin... goes to approve... it just says No Events. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Has it ever worked? If not, I might suspect incorrect file or directory permissions.

Are the events being saved in the event.txt or scheule.txt files?

Hi Dan O.  Thanks so much for answering my post.  Now to answer your questions...

"Has it ever worked? If not, I might suspect incorrect file or directory permissions."

No, this is my first setup and I wanted to make sure everything was running good before any mods.  So it's a standard load/defaults right now.  Additionally, I have direct access to the web server, so all I had to do was copy the files into the cgi-bin, go through the debug.pl  And as an initial setup, I tried to open up all files' permissions to read/write/execute, until everything is running, and then after that, I normally start chmod all the files for security. So that's the current state of files. It does seem like the files are automagically going to "hidden" attribute, so I'll check permissions propogation and try to stop that for now.

** New events added gives a standard success message, but doesn't display in the calendar **

Are the events being saved in the event.txt or scheule.txt files?

Oddly enough... YES!  All my test events are in there. Same with the users.txt file.  They are all in there, but not showing up in Admin for user permissions settings, etc.

This really is strange for me... I just don't know 'why' the users and events are not showing up in the displays. I'm looking forward to your reply (or anyone else who might know what I did wrong).  It's FRIDAY!!!!!!  :-)

** I tried to open up all files' permissions to read/write/execute **

Many servers will not allow that and will stop access to files in such directories. But if the event.txt and  schedule.txt files are being written to, that is not likely the problem.

I'm afraid I do not know what would cause your symptoms if the data is there but this is what someone else posted about the exact same problem:

quote:
Here is what I found - and yes, I feel stupid...

By downloading the app within the Safari browser and having it automatically expanding the file I did not consider the possibility that the files were not in Unix format - which they were not. The debug.pl app certainly showed me this.

The solution for my situation was to get the .tar file and untar it. This can be done either in the terminal (OS X), or using the handy program called (approprately enough) UNTAR for the mac.

It was indeed odd that the app would run at all because of this, but what the heck...

Maybe try reinstalling the script. If you used the .zip archive, maybe try the .tar.gz or vise versa?

all the permissions are correct, the events are in the events txt.

User Names are not being saved either.  The login id is and pw but not the "Name"

Also test user not able to change password even tho that permission was allowed.

Very strange.

I'll try the tar.gz and see if that one is any better.

Ok just a quick note.  The zip version is corrupt.  tar.gz version works fine. So far.

** The zip version is corrupt **

It may *get* corrupted when downloaded or opened by certain applications or on certain operating systems. That file in itself is not corrupt as I have installed it many times without problems.

JFYI

I am having trobles adding a new user as well. I have used this calendar script twice before, with no problems. But just now, when I tried to add a new user, I get this message:

Field [Name] is a required field.
User not added: Required fields missing

I do not understand why I am getting this message, because I have all the required fields filled in.

Any suggestions.

Michael
