Hi,

Can a recurring event have a different field value for each event. For example, lets say every first sunday of the month I have a party and I need someone to sponsor food. Can the sponsor firled then be different for each sunday, but the rest of the event details be same?

No. A recurring event only has a single event details record.

You can however easily convert recurring events to regular events using the 'Split Recurring Event' plug-in listed at the Unofficial CalendarScript - Mods and Plugins site so each can be separately edited.
