Schedule.txt and Event.Txt out of Synch: Can it be reconciled
«

I do not know what happened but when I enter an event it links to a description to another event. (e. g. on the calendar screen month view I see the correct time and title for an event. When I click on the event it takes me to a Title and Description that is completely different from what I selected. )
I went into the admin screen and see the same thing: in the screen I see the correct date, time and subject but when I click on schedule it shows the wrong event ID but the correct date and time. Is there a way to correct this other than trashing the whole thing and building a clean calendar from scratch? Is there a way to purge the out of synch event or schedule txt file?
Apparently this has gone on for a while as all previous backups have the same issue. Any guidance will be deeply appreciated.
