How would I modify the ssi template so that only the events that have not yet happened for the current month are displayed??

That's the way the ssi.html template file works by default, at least going by whole days.

I don't know what modifications would be required to have it done on an hourly or minute by minute basis. I guess you may be able to use the $EVENT->{'schedule'}->{'start_time'} field in addition to the event date and compare them to the current system time?
