My problem is that I can't change the command list on the left side of the calendar - i.e. I'm trying to subsitute "Add event" with "Sign-up". - without losing the template preferences.  Here's how it should look (http://www.bendhabitat.org/cgi-bin/calendar.cgi?calendar=OAMP) and here's how it looks after the change (http://www.bendhabitat.org/cgi-bin/calendar.cgi?calendar=Volunteer).  Here's how I did it: I can create a new calendar, and use an existing calendar as the template. Then, I went into the "Volunteer" calendar (.../calendarscript/templates/calendars/Volunteer) default.html file, removed "Search" and changed "Add event" to say "Sign-up".  That seems to work, but it goes back to the default colors, etc.  I am a little confused here.  Anybody got an idea for me?

Another question: Is there any way to make the login (name and pw) case insensitive?

Editing the template involved should be all that is necessary.

No template preferences should be lost just by editing the template.

I'm afraid we can't even view the calendars because it looks like you require users to log in first.

Are you certain you are still on the same calendar??

I'm sure there is but it would likely be too involved to describe how to do it, here. The script files themselves would likely need to be altered... in multiple places.

Thanks for a speedy reply!  I fixed up the calendar and -added name="guest" and pw="guest".  Yes, these are two different calendars.  Here's the way it should look: (http://www.bendhabitat.org/cgi-bin/calendar.cgi?calendar=MyCal), and here's the way it looks (http://www.bendhabitat.org/cgi-bin/calendar.cgi?calendar=MyTest) when I change the default file with a "Sign-up" command in the left column, instead of "Add event".  Maybe a better way to ask is: How can I change the commands in the left column of the calendar?

Than change that calendar's Template Display Preferences to match the other.

Each calendar can look totally different. If you want them to look the same, you'll have to adjust each's settings separately or duplicate an existing calendar (once you have it looking the way you want) to make new ones.

The only way I know of is to manually edit the template involved. What exactly is this "Sign-up" link suppose to do anyway?

Arghhh!  No, I haven't figured it out, Dan.  I tried to change the template preferences on the MyTest Calendar, but it doesn't change them.  I just tried to change the background color and the title.  They get reset to the default everytime.  Maybe you could tell me how you would go about this from the start.

I don't know why the changes wouldn't be made unless maybe file or directory permissions are not correct and the server is not allowing the script access to update the file in question.

Maybe delete your test calendar, change the default calendar to look the way you want it to and then duplicate it to make a new test calendar?

I don't know how much else I can do from here, it would likely take personal intervention to find out what's going on... and I charge for that.

I don't think it's permissions, because I have been able to change the "command list at the left side of the calendar to say "Sign-up" instead of "Add event".  But I'll check that idea out further.  The problem is that I want just this one calendar to offer a changed command list (http://www.bendhabitat.org/cgi-bin/calendar.cgi?calendar=MyTest), but I still want the default calendar as is (http://www.bendhabitat.org/cgi-bin/calendar.cgi?calendar=MyCal).  Have you - or anyone - changed the command list?

Yipes!  It seems to be working.  It doesn't seem to be a permissions problem, but you got me thinking.  I really don't understand what the software is doing, but I decided to change the "preferences.txt" file to reflect all the template changes.  (Maybe I should've just copied that file back to my computer...?)  Anyway, I changed that file to have all the same preferences as the "config.txt" file -in the ".../calendars/MyTest/ folder - has.  Was there an easier way to do this?  (Using the "Calendarscript" tool? I will study it a little further, but I think there's something I'm not understanding here.  THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT IT'S WORKING!!

BTW, we're using the calendar as a sign-up tool for Habitat House volunteer workers.

I was able to change the "command list" (http://www.bendhabitat.org/cgi-bin/calendar.cgi?calendar=OAMP)(name=guest; pw=guest), but it turns out that just changing the list in the ".../calendarscript/templates/calendars/OAMP/default.html" file is not enough.  The original command list remains in the pull down menus, and so forth.  Is there a way I can change those, too?

That is actually just called the left-hand calendar "menu" (so as not to confuse other forum visitors).

What is and so forth?

The Administration section's command list would not be affected just by editing the calendar template, no. Those command options are contained in the command_list.txt file. I strongly suggest you take great care if attempting to edit that file!

PS. Why did you change the wording of that link to "Sign-up" anyway? There is no sign-up at the link, there is a sign-IN form there (if the user isn't already logged in) but that is a totally different thing to me. :/

BTW. Once the user has logged in, that link then takes users to a Add Event page (but will still say "Sign-up") which I'm sure will be really confusing to users. :/
